The Well Prepared Hiker

While most Catskill hikers enjoy a day hike free of problems, the DEC weekly reports show that plenty of hikers have some problems on the trail. Some get injured and need to be rescued, some can hobble out under their own power, and some need to spend a night in the woods because they lost the trail. Three or four pounds of emergency equipment in one's pack can make all the difference. In the cold months, this is especially important.
